As a Catastrophe Claims General Adjuster, you will be responsible for immediate response to respond to storm events to investigate, evaluate, and negotiate high-severity property claim assignments involving homeowner, farm, and commercial risks. In this role, you will represent Farm Bureau in the field and must keep a service-oriented attitude by maintaining professional and productive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, agents, policyholders, and others. You will focus on accurately documenting investigations, evaluations, recommendations and plans of action with results focused on developing a defendable claims file. You must be able to effectively negotiate with client/members and contractors in a professional manner to attain a fair settlement. When called to storm events covering our 8-state territory (KS, NE, IA, MN, SD, AZ, NM, UT), you will be deployed for up to three weeks. During non-storm periods, you will be assisting our department by managing claims by reviewing and paying replacement cost claims or following up on pending storm losses, or other tasks as assigned.
College degree or equivalent plus 5+ years of relevant experience required.
Xactimate Level 1 & 2 Required: Level 3 or progress towards is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to negotiate effectively and present yourself in a professional manner.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as analytical ability.
Strong computer skills are required in order to quickly learn our multiple systems.
A valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records are required, as this position includes a company paid vehicle.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Must maintain on-call availability with the ability to deploy at any time, with the potential for being out for extended periods including weekends.
Must be able to climb onto ladders, roofs, and other structures to inspect damage and lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
Progress towards industry education outlined in career development path is expected.
Must Reside in or near one of these cities: Dodge City, Wichita, Salina, Manhattan, Emporia, Topeka.
