Water/Wastewater Engineer A growing Water Practice Group is seeking a skilled Water/Wastewater Engineer to contribute immediately to the development and execution of water and wastewater (W/WW) projects of varying sizes. This role involves project design, staff oversight, quality control, project management, client relations, proposal preparation, and sales pursuits for W/WW pipeline and conveyance projects in Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of water hydraulics, pipeline mechanics and materials, operational controls, and installation methods. Responsibilities include all aspects of pipeline engineering, with opportunities to use modeling and production tools such as InfoWater, InfoWorks ICM, WaterGems, and WaterCAD. The position reports to the Austin Water Group Manager. Key Responsibilities: Communicate with clients regarding specific projects and develop probable construction cost estimates. Attend client meetings, including occasional evenings. Analyze design criteria, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs to plan and design projects. Prepare design computations, quantity estimates, reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, permits, and related project documentation. Guide drafting staff to translate designs into working contract drawings; occasionally perform CAD drafting. Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and fulfill contract requirements. Serve as the onsite project representative when needed. Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software to produce engineering documents. Adhere to quality system tasks as outlined in the quality manual and/or Project Implementation Plan. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. EIT certification required; PE license preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in small diameter ( Ability to interpret technical materials, write reports and procedures, and present information effectively to clients, managers, and the public. Experience with pipeline hydraulics; familiarity with InfoWater, InfoWorks ICM, WaterGems, and/or WaterCAD preferred. Demonstrated expertise in planning, design, and construction of potable water and wastewater conveyance systems. Experience working with municipalities and utility companies. Strong skills in leadership, communication, planning, teamwork, decision-making, judgment, and problem-solving.
