Job Summary We are looking for an RSO with knowledge of NRC or agreement state regulations, licensing, radiation training of employees, X‑Ray machines, sealed source gauges, primarily focused on all aspects of the safe handling of Depleted Uranium (DU). This includes handling of DU and indoor test firing of DU munitions, controls, protective equipment, and medical surveillance required for working in DU projectile impact areas. Knowledge of air monitoring for alpha and beta radiation, employee dosimetry, exposure controls, radiation surveys for alpha and beta contamination control in process areas and at the firing range, direct‑reading survey meters, smear counting instruments, LLRW, and radioactive material shipping surveys is required. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Consistently exercises discretion and judgment. Essential Functions Outlines and implements policies or programs to educate and promote employee health and safety or environmental compliance. Delivers training programs educating staff on environmental concerns or health and safety risks found in the organization. Communicates regularly with management and administration regarding the status of environmental initiatives. Ensures that training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained. Tracks and documents accidents to understand causes and recommend changes to prevent future accidents. Monitors known health, safety, or environmental hazards, such as noise, air, or wastewater pollution levels. Coordinates inspection of facilities, vehicles, or equipment and processes recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations. Communicates facility‑specific emergency response or evacuation plans. Has a broad and current knowledge of all government and applicable industry safety regulationsli> Additional Responsibilities Responsible for all aspects of a Radiation Safety program and serves as the facility Radiation Safety Officer (RSO). Advises plant management of the requirements of radiation safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance as mandated by the regulating agency. Provides technical guidance to leadership and plant personnel. Required Qualifications Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree. Discipline/Major: Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline preferred. Knowledge, skills & abilities: Safety best practices, safety communications, safety inspections, safety investigations, safety policies and procedures, safety training, inspection documentation. Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout GD‑OTS facilities. Work primarily in a climate‑controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Pay Range (USD) $77,140 - $143,260 Pay Transparency Statement The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.
