Technical Leads are drivers within our fast-paced delivery teams, implementing Quantexas innovative technology across domains including banking, insurance, government, and healthcare. We are problem solvers, delivering sophisticated end-to-end big data solutions to our internal and external stakeholders. As a central part of our team, you will experience opportunities beyond that of an engineer. You enjoy leading by example, guiding and mentoring data engineers to solve complex technical problems, sharing success with the team, and taking pride in achieving milestones together. You will balance engaging with our business teams and clients to break down requirements into technical tasks, working hands-on as a programmer, and supporting other engineers within a collaborative environment. The work you do here will be impactful. The challenges are big, but rewarding. Your leadership in managing, transforming, and cleansing high-volume data helps our clients solve business problems in areas like fraud, financial crime, data management, risk, and customer intelligence. What youll be doing. Lead, support, and mentor a team of junior data engineers within an agile framework. Write defensive, fault-tolerant, and efficient code for production-level data processing systems. Configure and deploy Quantexas software using tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Scala, Elasticsearch, on private and public clouds like Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon. Be a trusted source of knowledge to clients, articulating technical concepts to non-technical audiences to aid decision-making. Collaborate with solution architects and R&D engineers to champion solutions and standards for complex big data challenges, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices. Requirements What youll bring. ***Candidates must be based in Washington DC or willing to relocate*** At least five years of hands-on experience in data engineering or related roles, with at least 2 years in a lead capacity. Proficiency in Scala, Java, Python, or similar programming languages used in data engineering. Our primary is Scala, but strong engineering principles are universal. Experience building and deploying production-grade batch data processing systems, with an understanding of operational stability and streamlining development, release, and operations. Familiarity with modern development tools (e.g., Git, Gradle, Nexus) and automation/DevOps technologies (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Bash scripting). Strong technical communication skills, with experience working in dynamic client environments. Knowledge of testing libraries (e.g., ScalaTest), understanding different test types, and experience writing tests. Nice to haves. Experience mentoring or managing team members careers.
